Roald van Wyk is Co-Founder and CCIO of ACOS Labs and co-author of Competing at Machine Speed. He has spent nearly three decades helping the world's largest consumer brands across four continents navigate every transformation in commerce, branding, and artificial intelligence.
He established and led the global Brand Experience for Commerce practice at Accenture Song, helping Fortune 500 companies connect brand strategy, creativity, technology, and commerce. He later joined Interpublic Group (IPG) as Global Creative Commerce Lead, where he launched Creative Commerce Labs, an initiative focused on developing new commercial capabilities, partnerships, and growth opportunities for global brands.
His career has taken him from Cape Town to Singapore, Tokyo, Amsterdam, New York, Oslo, and Madrid. Along the way, he has held senior creative and executive leadership positions at agencies and consultancies including JWT, Publicis, FCB, SapientRazorfish, Berlin Cameron, MXM, Accenture Song, and IPG. His experience spans consumer goods, automotive, financial services, retail, and technology, working with brands including Mercedes-Benz, General Mills, BMW, Amazon, and Nike.
His creative work has been recognized and featured across major international award shows and industry publications, including Cannes Lions, D&AD, The One Show, and the Clio Awards.
Today, at ACOS Labs, van Wyk is helping build AI-native commercial intelligence for consumer goods companies. His work focuses on a fundamental shift in how businesses compete: moving from systems that explain what happened to systems that help organizations decide what to do next.
In Competing at Machine Speed, he draws on nearly thirty years of experience across successive waves of technological change to examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping commerce, brand competition, and the decisions that drive business growth.
